Digital Health

The programme will include research into digital tools and AI in the hands of the citizen (wearables, Apps, conversational systems, home monitoring systems) for health promotion, supporting behaviour change, and managing long-term conditions; and central decision support systems to improve targeting for health promotion and preventive work. We have active projects on wearable cardiovascular monitors, in-home monitoring, and diabetes prevention, and scope to rapidly develop new projects.

At present digital population technologies are showing positive result in clinical trials but need larger effect sizes and more flexibility to achieve substantial population health gains through prevention across the age ranges.

Working with the new collaborations enabled by testbed capabilities, joint studentships and the Imperial X environment, we want to develop multidisciplinary programmes in both low and high TRL areas.
