Arjun Panesar

Arjun Panesar (MEng Computing with Artificial Intelligence 2006) – Founding CEO and Head of AI and Ethics at DDM Health. DDM grew out of an online forum (diabetes.co.uk) that Arjun set up in 2003 – now one of the world’s largest and most active communities for people with diabetes. At DDM, Arjun is harnessing the power of AI to achieve clinically meaningful health outcomes and reduce health inequalities. He has also authored best-selling works on the topics of healthcare, machine learning and AI and was a winner of the Emerging Alumni Leader Award 2020.

Wareed Alenaini

Dr Wareed Alenaini (MRes Chemistry 2014) – Founder of Twinn Health, a biotechnology company that uses AI to check for metabolic disease and hidden fatty deposits affecting vital organs. Wareed was also a winner of the Emerging Alumni Leader Award 2024.

Professor Alessandra Russo (chair)

Alessandra is Head of the Department of Computing within Imperial’s Faculty of Engineering and  Co-Director (Convener) of Imperial’s new Human and Artificial Intelligence School of Convergence Science. The new Schools are creating deeply integrated research and innovation communities to deliver societal impact in strategically identified areas, including human and artificial intelligence. Read more here.

Alessandra has led the Structured and Probabilistic Knowledge Engineering (SPIKE) research group and her research interests are in foundation AI and applications to real-world problems. She has also led on the pioneering of several state-of-the-art symbolic machine learning systems and widely applied them to the areas of intelligent adaptive systems, security, network management, distributed control systems for sensor networks, and healthcare.
