Programme overview
The I-X PhD startupship is a programme tailored for students conducting research in artificial intelligence or related fields such as machine learning, robotics, data science, and the Internet of Things. The programme, supported by a generous philanthropic donation from Mr Jassim Alseddiqi, the co-founder of Agentplex and Avida Group, aims to help students develop start-ups or entrepreneurial project based on their PhD research.
During the PhD programme, Imperial College London students will carry out academic research and have access to entrepreneurial training, provided in collaboration with the AI SuperConnector. This will include workshops, short courses, business and innovation coaching, and pitch events. In addition to completing their PhD thesis, students will create a business plan for their future venture and receive support in securing seed funding post-graduation.

FAQ
PhD students at any stage of their programme who have more than 12 months until the submission are eligible. Please note: your supervisor has to be a member of I-X Faculty or an I-X Affiliate.
The programme is 12-month long, including a six-month long entrepreneurial training and an opportunity to pitch your start-up idea towards the end of your programme.
Participating students will be based at I-X, located at I-HUB in the heart of the White City Deep Tech Campus. The students will be part of the vibrant community of co-located scholars and will benefit from working in a collaborative interdisciplinary environment, with access to local companies and start-ups.
