AI: Cutting-Edge Overviews and Tutorials with Dr Dandan Zhang

Talk Title
AI for Biomedical Robotics Across Scales

In this talk, we will explore the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in enhancing biomedical robotics, from micro-level surgeries to large-scale, home-centric healthcare operations. By simplifying the way robots learn and operate, as well as enhancing their ability to understand and interact with their environment, this talk illustrates the vast potential of AI to revolutionize healthcare and personalized homecare through intelligent robotics. More specifically, we showcase how AI-driven robots are becoming more precise and trustworthy, capable of assisting with the daily lives of elderly people, interpreting surgical operation scenarios, performing complex medical procedures, and improving patient care. We aim to make medical interventions more accurate, less invasive, and widely accessible, while also enhancing the trustworthiness and generalizability of assistive robots.

Speaker Bio – Dr Dandan Zhang
Dr Dandan Zhang is an Assistant Professor in Biomedical Robotics in the Department of Bioengineering and a Lecturer in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in the I-X initiative at Imperial College London. She has cross-disciplinary interests in robotics, biomedicine, and artificial intelligence. Her current focus is on dexterous manipulation integrated with multi-modality sensor fusion and physical/artificial intelligence, as well as micro-robotics for biomedical applications. She aims to enhance the level of autonomy for multi-scale robotic systems and contribute to the new generation of precision healthcare and personalised homecare.
